(un)folding Athens / exploring the city
We design “Athens Bench Mark” having in mind its urban identity. Our bench [un]folds like a three-dimensional pocket map visualizing the city of Athens in a pattern form of a street-plan map of the 7 city districts. The map is printed in a perforated laser-cut cor-ten steel 1800 mm x 2000mm in sheet size and range 5 mm. The use of cor-ten steel material forms a stable rust-like appearance if exposed to the weather for several years. Time and climate changes leave their footprint on the city and it’s image.
